River Travel
Much of Miriam Green Ellis' trip to Aklavik was by river, thanks to the network of steam wheeler routes so many of the isolated Northern communities relied on to ship supplies. Her travel introduced her to steam wheeler captains and crews, allowed her to indulge in daily swims, and provided opportunities to take vivid photos of the realities of river transport.
