Fort Resolution to Hay River
From Fort Smith, Miriam Green Ellis headed to Fort Resolution. Here, she visited the local Catholic Mission, which housed and educated the children of the local First Nations, before moving on to Hay River. The residents of both communities used dogs as beasts of burden, harnessing them to pull wagons and plough fields in the absence of horses or other draft animals.
